Under the tile

The part you'll never see.

Sealed walls, floors, upstands and penetrations, applied to the manufacturer's system before a single tile goes down. It's what keeps your bathroom dry for decades. See our shower waterproofing process.

FAQ

Bathroom tiling questions

How long does it take to tile a bathroom?

+

It depends on the size of the room, the type of tile and the amount of detail, such as niches, mitred corners and feature walls. Waterproofing also needs drying time before tiling can start. Once we have seen the plans we can give you a realistic timeframe.

Do you waterproof the shower before tiling?

+

Yes. We are a registered ARDEX and MAPEI waterproofing applicator, and every wet area is waterproofed to the manufacturer's system before tiling. You can read more on our shower waterproofing page.

What is a mitred corner?

+

A mitred corner is where two tiles are cut at an angle so they meet in a clean, sharp corner with no trim or visible tile edge. It takes accurate cutting and patience, and it gives a very crisp, modern finish.

Can you tile large-format tiles in a shower?

+

Yes. Large-format tiles look great with fewer grout lines, but they need a flat, properly prepared surface and careful setting. We also install subway tile, herringbone, mosaic, stone-look porcelain and natural stone.

What is a channel drain shower?

+

A channel (or linear) drain is a long, narrow drain, often along one wall of the shower, instead of a single drain in the centre. It lets the floor fall in one direction, which suits large-format tile and a walk-in look. We also build centre-waste showers.

Do you tile bathrooms for builders and renovators?

+

Yes. We tile new-build bathrooms and ensuites for builders and architects as well as renovations for homeowners, in Taupō and further afield.
